I remember the first time I saw Dubby. He was being beaten by his previous owner and always locked up in a cage. I felt really bad for him and although I was terrified of Rottweilers because of the negativity you hear about their aggressiveness, I couldn't live with myself if I let something like that happen to him. I called him my little rescue. I always will.. But he also rescued me. He became a part of my life December of 2000, just before Christmas. I worked hard to help him get over his fears and we really bonded. In 2006, I met my now husband and Dubby became an important part of his life as well as our 2 children's lives. Our eldest, Kyra, has spent hours on the floor cuddling with him since she was about 10 months old. There are even times when she was sick and would cuddle with him and fall asleep on him and not so kind times where she used to sit on him and he'd look at me with pitiful eyes as to say "please get her off of me mommy". I would remind her that he was a pet and not a toy to sit on :)). I have so many great memories with him and he will live on in our family's heart forever. Over the past 3 years, he had been developing some problems with his hips, which unfortunately is very common with the breed. We had him on an ant-inflammatory medication to help with the pain and he seemed to be doing better. But unfortunately he had a seizure and lost complete use of his hind end. Poor baby couldn't get up at all. It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, but we did not want him suffering. May he rest in peace. He filled everyone's heart with joy and was one of the best, well-behaved, happy dogs I have ever had the pleasure to know. Any one who met Dubby always fell in love with him, even people who were scared of dogs ended up loving him. He was amazing with children and his favorite thing to do was getting belly rubs and of course any treat he could get his paws on.
